Day One Thousand Two Hundred Thirty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Mawuli was the one to discover their bodies. We had passed the night without them in a place chosen by him. We unanimously decided not to leave the area until we could learn their whereabouts.

Judging by their final position and it’s great distance off our current path, Mawuli surmises that they encountered a patrol and led them away from us. Ultimately sacrificing themselves.

With care, Mr. Kagi and I buried their mortal remains.

Mawuli then assumed the chore of directing our way back to the hiding place.

Thoughts crowded in upon me – remembrances of all our times together- both at sea and on land. Through it all they were the most steadfast and faithful helpers for Elijah and me.

Day One Thousand One Hundred Eighty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We are back. After a long and tiring day. Quasimo expertly guided us around the sections that had been demolished not very long ago.

We ran into the Captain and Jezer who were on their way out on an errand. They reversed direction and accompanied us back to the hiding place.

We learned from them that Tomas and Sy have not yet returned. Otherwise everyone is accounted for (now that we are here).

Both Elijah and myself were dismayed that nothing is known about Tomas and Sy. Neither their whereabouts nor their well-being. They should have been back long ago.

Then I remembered the urgent impression I received last week to pray for them. It gave me great comfort.

Day Nine Hundred Sixty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

By the description of the people in Mei’s vision, I knew it had to be about the group led by the original Purser from the Captain’s ship. My heart warmed at the memory of him, his wife Mary and his children Mawuli and Retha.

I asked Mei if there were anything about her vision that gave a hint as to their whereabouts.

She hesitated in her reply, saying it was too confusing – light and dark at the same time.

I shook my head at that image, as it had no significance to me either. I pray that the Spirit will give us further understanding.

I was still mulling these things over when Jezer returned with Elam, Raj G and Magwich.

Our meeting concluded, Raj P took over the consolation of his brother and folded him into his group.

With the new day we set about implementing our decisions.

We assigned to Jezer the task of running down what has happened to Raj G’s people. And Quasimo stepped up to help him in that quest. (I believe Jezer has opened up to be more amenable to taking someone with him).

Sensing the hour and the day at hand, Elijah and I took Tomas and the Captain aside to enlist their aid in finding the other parties that long ago (and far away) set out for their calling in Jerusalem. Their present whereabouts is a complete mystery to all but the Spirit.

Day Eight Hundred Ninety Nine #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

No news yet as to the whereabouts of Meesa. Before she left, she said only that she wouldn’t go further than some villages north of Damascus.

Well, Jezer has been there and back. But reports nothing concrete about her. Good or bad.

However, some people told him stories about strange people in their villages who have come and gone lately. He thinks that if she heard the same rumors, she would have stayed in the area to check them out.

When we heard this detail, we decided we had to go and look for ourselves. But Jezer prevailed upon us to stay put and give her another day to make her way back to us.

Elijah considered this wise counsel.

Day Three Hundred Twenty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

A messenger from the Captain came for Elijah early today. But he was already out and about and I did not know where.

This crewman was downcast at the news. They had been all night trying to cut their way into Stan’s cabin – unsuccessfully.

I told him to check the superstructure from this level down, and I would cover the upper levels.

I learned his whereabouts when I questioned the Purser in his office.  That gentleman told me that Elijah was in the sanctuary cabin.

I turned to go, but he held me up. Elijah had left word that he was not to be disturbed.

There was nothing to do but go tell the Captain that we have to wait.
