Day One Thousand One Hundred Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Our guards called up reinforcements this morning and ordered our villa surrounded. This was in reaction to reports that world government loyalists had broken out of their holding camp and were roaming the vicinity.

Tomas was out, so I acted the liaison with our guards. While touring the perimeter I witnessed them turning away roving bands with extreme force. If they had been armed our guards may not have been able to repel them.

In the afternoon the Supreme Commander put in an appearance. He came to check on our well-being and to assure us that the problem had been dealt with – decisively.

After he had left, I sought Elijah to tell him that I thought I had seen Moglen.

Day One Thousand Forty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We ran into someone today who actually deigned to talk to us. He took one look at us and the direction in which we were traveling and crossed the road and stopped us.

He came off as someone  concerned for our well being, but his gaze kept lingering on Elijah, as he warned us about an army checkpoint ahead. He said that they were allowing people coming in, but, except for the military, all egress was forbidden.

And then he came to his point. He knew a way around the checkpoint if we could see our way to make it worthwhile for him.

Elijah thanked him for his offer, but declined it, saying he was quite familiar with the area.

Day Seven Hundred Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The communication from Tomas was already opened and we assumed read by other interested parties. On the face of it Tomas was assuring us of his well being and inquiring after ours. But there was a subtext that I was sure had eluded anyone other than our eyes.

It was much in my thoughts as we set out once more.

If I was correct in my assumption, the Supreme Commander was about to suffer the same fate as David at the hand of his son Absalom.

I was discussing the implications with Elijah and the Captain when the surrounding mountainsides of the pass sprang to life. And our attention was riveted on the threat around us.

Where was the Spirit?
