The Fairy Diary Day 227 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

The sentries thought at first the darkness was a gathering storm. But sounded the alarm when the approaching mass resolved itself into swirling flights of bats.

The outer defenses let fly their volleys and took out the first wave.

But still they came.

Next those on the city walls launched flaming arrows – which was an excellent choice as it decimated the second wave and even thinned the ranks of the third.

With Noralei standing ready to deploy her new barrier, if necessary, Rumble and I picked our targets and fired arrow after arrow, skewering multiple bats with each one.

All the while my pendant was urging me to let loose its power. But I was fighting it – not wanting to expose my wings if I were to rise to allow it full effect.

It was a groundless fear, for I finally surrendered to the impulse and mounted into the air above Laguayil. In one bright burst from the pendant the skies were cleared of the marauding bats.

They tell me I collapsed afterwards.

Day One Thousand Two Hundred Thirty Eight #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Mei writes:

My tears flow so freely I can hardly see. But my memory is so seared that what I witnessed is all I can see or think about.

I was obedient and kept well back from the action. And I am sure no one was aware of who I am or what I was doing there.

The ferocity of the mob’s anger was so palpable that it blinded them to the presence of anyone else except the targets of their hate – Enoch and Elijah.

Dear Enoch and dear, dear Elijah. There you lie where you fell. And there you will remain by Stan’s fiat. For all to jeer and spit upon.

I long to see those human vultures scattered.

Day One Thousand One Hundred Eighteen #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The events of the day blurred the moment artillery shells crashed down into the city.

The day began with the decision to somehow displace the powder from critical areas throughout the megapolis. Tomas had made lists and sent out units with the assignment.

The fact that Tomas had guessed correctly was confirmed by the falling artillery shells on those specific targets.

Thankfully they had been able to clear all of the targeted areas, except one. Otherwise the resultant conflagration would have been much wider spread. As it was, ironically, it impacted most severely the loyalists of the world government. Little effort was expended on their behalf.

Elijah and I waited for Tomas’s return to inform him we had our sign.
