Day One Thousand Fifty Nine #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Sy’s distress was relieved this afternoon by the appearance of Elam down on the road. On foot, no tanker truck.

After our greetings he related to us his harrowing experiences of the last few days. No sooner had he driven into the staging area, when he was forcefully removed and placed in confinement, charged with profiteering.

While there he learned about the clashes far to the east. The forces nearby were forming up the last ditch defense.

Things became so confusing that Elam was able to escape (he credits Hamashiach).

While passing through the furious activity he saw Stan and his motorcade headed east.

From the road last night he witnessed the air assault from the east and its destruction.

Day One Thousand Thirty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We made the rounds with Elijah’s pupils loading up on scrap metal and returning early to the city. I could not help but notice that the scrap heaps were less extensive and may well soon be depleted. And then what will become of those in the slave quarter of the city?

The pupils had met with both Tomas and Jezer some time ago, but don’t know their current whereabouts. They had passed them off to the other group to coordinate an idea that Tomas had come up with.

Elijah and I set off to search for Tomas and Jezer this morning. And to check for Elam at the tanker truck staging yards.

Our quest today proved fruitless on all counts.

Day One Hundred Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Lyle was first up to the gatehouse this morning. He was a good long while talking there, so our hopes were lifted with each passing minute. But at the last our expectations were dashed.

Lyle trudged back down the hill to rejoin us. He spoke to the widow first, telling her that all is not lost, and then gathered us all together and led us away from that spot.

He explained that we have to apply at another gate. And before we could protest, he added that we are promised that we will be all admitted.

He grinned at me and insisted it’s still not the way things should be.

After a long hike we arrived at another staging area.
