Day One Thousand Thirty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elijah and I isolated ourselves today as best we could to seek guidance from the Spirit as to our next move.

His pupils, on his order have gone without the city to a place where they can do the same.

Elam had shared that the frequency of his trips has dropped in half. And he has heard rumors that what is coming in is being redirected to the fields around Babylon. Fields elsewhere are drying up at an alarming rate.

Elijah’s pupils down from the north echoed these facts, and talked of a schedule for towns to be cut off of supply.

And Tomas reported through them that all army units at the outposts were being removed and ordered elsewhere.

It took all my resolve not to go out and look for their tanker truck and follow up any leads as to the whereabouts of Tomas and Jezer. Of course, Elijah’s unwillingness to deviate from our agreed upon schedule held me back too, but he did allow Quasimo to go to investigate.

I kept as busy as I could, but there was little I could do to help Mei since the return of Meesa and the Purser. Instead I tried to make myself useful to Reuben. He has implemented new procedures after reviewing our security here.

When Quasimo reappeared he confirmed the truck to be Jezer’s. He believes its placement had been instrumental to our successful crossing of the road.

Day One Thousand Twenty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I’ve gained some perspective since yesterday. I am still focused on finding Tomas and Jezer. The difference comes with the realization that timing is everything. And I am now surrendered to our agreed upon schedule in that matter.

It has freed me up in this sense – l look forward to what comes my way today, that will prepare me and make me the person I need to be.

So I sought what I could do here in our refuge, and conferred with Mei. She was short handed as Meesa was out running an errand with the Purser. So she welcomed my assistance, and my company. She was particularly keen to hear more about our recent adventures.

She misses Tomas too.

Day Nine Hundred Ninety Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Consequent to the events of yesterday the Purser thought we might have to move up our departure to today. Elijah, however, was all for keeping on schedule, since there was no pressing need, but did allow that, rather than all at once, the departures should be staggered.

To that end, when Mawuli reported in that all was prepared, the Purser ordered him to lead the first group tomorrow – all those who up until yesterday had been reluctant.

Mawuli asked to accompany Elijah and to sit with the young men while he taught.

I had other things to do, but felt impressed to go along. I was glad I did.

Along the way Mawuli shared that  the twelve were bringing healing.

Day Six Hundred Twenty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Another brilliant blue day. We’ve made good headway and have come abreast of certain units of the army, left in the rear for some reason or reasons. Probably to recruit or coerce conscripts as Tomas has conjectured, or see to the supplies needed by the army at large.

We decided to keep our distance. To observe and not be observed.

The Captain reported that a narrow valley lies ahead and believes that the army’s progress will be greatly slowed. This impacts the schedule that Elijah had in mind. Since the lead elements are now in that area, we may have to wait until after they have all passed through. Meaning we will have to hold up somewhere on this side.

Day Five Hundred Fifty Nine #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I cannot help thinking about our recent guests and their enchantment with those green clad islands, as we pass by visions of surpassing beauty found only in the islands of these climes. They would have asked to move in for a closer look, maybe even have begged to land.

I know I have had such longings. But I realize that we have a schedule to keep and more pressing matters to see to.

Elijah remained in the special cabin all day. I alternated between the bridge and the Purser’s office, lending a hand to Tomas or P as the need arose.

Again a whole day has passed and no ship sightings. It would be disconcerting if we didn’t know why.

Day Two Hundred Eighty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elam brought word to us about an armed force awaiting us at the administration building. We decided to alter our schedule. Ever since I related to him the roadblocks to leaving, put up by the authorities, Elijah has been pondering the situation.

He felt it the perfect time to retrace the route that brought us into the city, and I added the details I had learned.

We found no impediment to movement in that direction. And Elam was eager to learn also.

That left our afternoon open to call on the administration building again. They barely had time to seal the doors when we arrived.

Elijah spoke. And Elam and I searched the crowd for disaffected denizens.

Twenty seven days.
