The Fairy Diary Day 585 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

Dunfallon came back from his early morning walk with exciting news. The village  had been abuzz with a rumor that a dragon and a goblin were pacing about outside the daisy ring defenses. He rushed to investigate and found our friend Gibley with Conjil. He led them in – settled Conjil in Noralei’s stable – and came straight over to collect us.

Having seen us on our way, the pixie continued on to notify Rumble and Tinadell of our gathering.

The instant I came through the door to Noralei’s shop, the face of the little goblin lit up and he bounded over to greet me. He had a message from Merlin for me. As I had thought when the wizard left the canyonlands he told Gibley that he had a promise to keep with the trolls.

I asked him what his uncle decided about Noralei’s request for a breeding pair of dragons. Gibley asked me to wait until we were all present.

So, the instant Dunfallon arrived with Rumble and Tinadell, the goblin led us out to the stable. And there he introduced us to the young dragon Clemjil, and an unhatched dragon egg, lovingly cared for by Conjil.

Noralei was beside herself with excitement.

My captor showed his face. Shockingly he looks like me. That is – he is a fairy like me. So, perhaps that rumor was true that Merlin had heard through the goblins.

He says he means me no harm. Yet he makes no move to release me. All he adds is that it is for my own safety- with no explanation.

He will not answer my query after my friends. So I am left here worrying about whether they are still alive or not.

Sizing him up in my mind afterwards I cannot imagine him besting three dragons and my companions, especially an enraged pixie.

Maybe it would be best to forget about myself and write the High Fairy and have them strike the Crack of Doom to summon my friends back out of this place. And hope they come back for me later.

Day Nine Hundred Seventy Nine #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Our friend could talk of nothing else but the explosion. He was well past the town where it went off when it went off. He turned around and ran back to investigate. But he couldn’t get any closer than the fields outside. Nothing stirred, except the raging fire – everywhere. It seemed to be feeding on something within itself.

When he passed through before, not a soul would answer him. So he had wiped his feet and left in search of us.

When Tomas had unburdened himself, Elijah had us all turn in. Only with the new morning did we open up about our journey and about the rumor we had heard.

We parlayed and unanimously decided to pursue the lead.
