A Simple Request Can Go a Long Way

You too can help (fingers crossed)

Using Direct2Digital as my aggregator for publishing has many advantages. One that I really like is their addition of making your book available to Overdrive (and their newer app Libby). The only drawback is that librarians need to be made aware of your publication. And they make such decisions through requests that they receive from the library cardholders.

Requests can be made through the Overdrive app itself, but not currently through the Libby app.

Day Seven Hundred Thirty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Word was received back from the Supreme Commander this morning. The commander of this unit has been ordered to supply our needs and to release us to go our way.

This outcome has greatly relieved the mind of my young friend. Tomas had been called for, told the gist of the message and asked to list our needs.

After a brief consultation with us – so as not to forget anything essential – he submitted our requests.

In short order the commander supplied our needs and knowing that we were heading into the mountains added some warmer clothing. However, he also made one request himself. He wants us to take two of his men with us.

To our surprise Elijah said yes.

Day Five Hundred Eighty Eight #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We have a solution to our quandary.

In our trip ashore last night we were able to track down Mr. Kagi and proposed a deal. We offered to sell the ship to him for an amount equal to the price of the transport of his goods and himself to the mainland port. He agreed.

This we brought back to the Captain. He and Mr. Kagi met this morning and after setting terms for the split of monies due after delivering the vessel, they consummated the deal.

They then both appeared before the port authorities. They were at first reticent, but Mr. Kagi’s status with the world government is such that his requests can not be refused.

We are all pleased.
