Day One Thousand Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Remarkable. I felt a release. No longer did I sense a need to intercede on behalf of the fractious tribesmen. I look forward to discovering what has happened.

Elijah passed the day with his new set of pupils. He revels (in the way only I can see) at the depth of the gifts manifesting in the group, especially that of prophecy.

I kept busy helping the Purser field the few big problems that have arisen after this last move. Together we sent Mawuli out to scout the best way forward from here. Hopefully he will resolve our biggest problem – circumventing the ruined city.

My evening meeting with Elijah was interrupted when a drone buzzed overhead.

I thought I recognized it.

Having obtained Jezer’s release, one would have expected us to return immediately to the hiding place.

But Elijah had other ideas. He wanted to continue the search for other followers of Hamashiach immediately. So we headed back into Damascus.

Besides, Elijah pointed out that any other direction would have raised the suspicions of the local police whom he was sure were monitoring our movements. And if our actions matched their expectations they would soon lose interest in us. Or as Jezer suggested we could lose them in the multitudes.

Along the way I had my little talk with Jezer about acquiring the materials with which to construct another drone for Quasimo.

He deferred to Elijah who reluctantly added his approval.

Day Four Hundred Sixty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Clouds gave way to blue skies today. Opening to our view, the seas that stretch interminably before us.

In my downtime a thought flitted across my consciousness. It was so easy to imagine that we had sailed off the face of the earth. Is there any land left out there in that vastness we have not been to?

Elijah responded to my musings. He said our journey was far from over. If only because he does not sense a release from his charge. But he added that we should take full advantage of these times of peace to recharge and prepare. For a time is coming when we shall have no respite from the storm. With every hand against us.

Day Four Hundred Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We are on the road, and traveling the route that other followers of Hamashiach have taken before us. We left shortly after Elijah returned from Stan’s meeting at the riverfront inn.

The whole town had been there and eager to receive the mark.

However, Stan was only able to bestow the “honors” upon one couple – the very ones who possess the inn in which we last stayed. Stan had no sooner finished with them when the meeting was broken up by a hoard of bees that filled the riverfront area.

Elijah sensed an immediate release. Me too.

Unlike the other route, there are lots of villages lining the road. We shall look for an inn in the next one ahead.

Day Three Hundred Sixty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Soon we will be released to be on our way.

In no way were we assured of this outcome at the beginning of our ordeal.

Some time in the night our shadow had slipped around to our front and by morning lay athwart our course. To the Captain it was clear that they would have us halt. Tomas concurred, identifying for the Captain its lone weapon trained on us. A rail-gun.

The guard burst in. The ship had contacted him, following expected protocols. Its recitation of the password removed all of his doubts. His orders required him to transfer his container to its deck.

At that moment Elijah came in to advise the Captain it was safe to accede.
