Day One Thousand One Hundred Sixty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I let a day go by and pondered Tomas’s concern and thereby it became my own. Only then did I bring it up with Elijah.

He listened to me without interruption. But when I had finished, he asked me a simple question – what did I propose be done?

And I realized I had given little thought to it. Rather I had concluded and was hoping that Elijah would do something.

But then an idea came to me. Could we not send Quasimo and his cousin to help our friend? They knew Babylon and Mr. Kagi.

Elijah pointed out were not our friends mature? (Here he included Mawuli). And did they not know the One in whom we place our trust?

In our meeting of yesterday the Supreme Commander revealed to us news of the conflict raging far to the north, as the forces out of that fastness have been engaged by those of the world government. He was content to sit out and let them weaken one another, all the better to step in later and destroy them both.

We welcomed this news but for another reason, and advised Quasimo’s cousin and Mei that now would be the best time for them to depart on their journey.

They agreed and Tomas concurred and together we escorted them to point outside of Babylon to the west.

As we were parting, Lung appeared and committed to accompany the women on their journey.

Tomas called early for Mei to take her to meet with Lung. Quasimo’s cousin asked to go along to support her and to perhaps bring another perspective to share with her former comrade.

Elijah and I went out at the same time and accompanied them into the megapolis where they dropped us off before continuing on. Tomas had arranged another audience with the Supreme Commander for us. First to thank him again for his kindnesses, but to also reveal to him the end of days rushing towards us all. And his specific end should he continue on his course.

He heard us out with respect, but it seemed to me, his attitude was quite unconcerned and unmoved by my descriptions.

Each of us has divined our path going forward. Elam and Sy shall accompany the Captain on the ship. Mei, despite a curiosity to see the world from a ship at sea has opted to go with Quasimo’s cousin via the land route. But first she desires to have one more talk with her comrade Lung and has asked for Tomas’s help.

Mawuli, however, desires to go with Elijah and me. And we have not yet given him an answer. (Which will be a “no”).  Elijah wants him to hear the word from the Spirit.

Tomas yet remains the problem. He knows he must go but is intent on persuading the Supreme Commander to step down and go with him.

Clarity dawns in fits and starts. Soon, it is my belief that our fellowship will be breaking up to go our own ways.

It is my hope that those departing should remain together. And this seems likely given the option that has arisen for the Captain. Mr Kagi has put the ship at his disposal which opens it to whom ever should like to accompany him.

The Captain intends to take her out and around to the west. And either come through the area by the crossroads well and the desert, or even attempt the backdoor through Jerusalem.

Quasimo’s cousin plans her return by the land route via her tribal village and the crossroads well.

Elijah has given his blessing.

Some confusion has resulted from the arrival of Quasimo’s cousin among us. That old tug of war – do we stay or do we go.

Elijah has left it up to the individual conscience under the leading of the Spirit. All of us will be going back eventually, just not Elijah and me at this point in time.

What she had shared was quite compelling – their concern over our ability to return with the ever increasing restrictions placed upon movements in the areas between Damascus and Jerusalem, being the main concern.

Much time was spent in the set apart room by the other members of our party. And Elijah and I added our sincere supplications that each decision be made wholeheartedly.

My thoughts turned to Quasimo today. No doubt prompted by our new surroundings.

Tomas and Mr Kagi have ensconced us in a palatial villa very much like the one in which Quasimo had us pause for a meal on our way out of Babylon, not long after Stan thought he had eliminated Elijah and myself.

To get to it they led us by immense holding pens in which many loyal citizens of the world government had been incarcerated. The stench from within was horrific.

Apathy and neglect can be as deadly as overt hostility.

Tomas no sooner had left when he returned with another guest in tow. Quasimo’s cousin.

She had been sent from the hiding place to retrieve us.

Our roundabout route via the wadi to the spot beneath the bridge consumed the rest of the day. But we remained there over night not because of the coming on of night, but because of the drone that was sniffing at our heels.

It was still present this morning. By the pattern of its movements we could tell it was combing back and forth, scanning each wadi. At one point it stopped midair as though contemplating something under its gaze.

Both of our hearts leapt with the thought that Quasimo’s cousin was the object of its scrutiny. And we both sighed with relief when it continued on without perpetrating any deadly action.

Elijah lowered his staff and we moved on.

The traffic noise from the road was strong all night and intensified this morning. From our remove we scanned the length of the road section in view for the best point of crossing.

We set out for our chosen spot, but were overtaken on the way by Quasimo’s cousin. She had been dispatched to us with a warning.

A drone had circled the encampment at sunup, disappeared southward, then returned and headed westward. Quasimo believes it will return again and then head northward. She relayed his compulsion that we be alerted to that possibility.

We thanked her, only to have our gratitude increased when she suggested we follow the wadi around to the right where it crosses under a  bridge.
