Day One Thousand Two Hundred Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Another change to our prospects. Sy and I did find some more foodstuffs, untouched under an opening clogged with rubble. Sy says it dates back to his former occupancy of the redoubt.

This development may not, however, influence Elijah’s decision. He still thinks most should be sent back – especially Mawuli.

We had more time to contemplate the situation on the way past the stone bridge. Tomas wanted to show us the extent of the forces that are tied up in this death struggle.

I was not prepared to see the aftermath of a battle spread out below that high position. A crimson carpet of bodies left drying in the sun, all bearing the uniform of the army of the East.

Day Eight Hundred Eighty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Jezer returned this morning.  He was expansive about our prospects for the future. In fact, he has already taken two groups out of the city to the hiding place. And they are hard at work making it habitable for those to follow.

But he also had a word of caution. Among those he led out were some men whose forced labor involved delivery of materials down in the civic center. There they gleaned that two factions, the world government versus the local, were at odds in regards to the disposition of our people.

The locals are for our expulsion. The world government officials want to round us up into concentration camps.

Jezer believes their disagreement will work in our favor.

Day Four Hundred Ninety Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elijah decided to change inns, to go on into another section of the metropolis. Our canvass of the first area had come up empty. Not even a hint of any followers of Hamashiach anywhere.

We moved to an inn situated near the banks of a river that flows through this end of the metropolis. There are many fish shops all along its course that Elijah deems worthy prospects.

So far it has been easy to avoid encounters with government officials, both of the local kind and of the global.

Elijah has also made another decision. No longer shall we part ways, even if such a course would be helpful. He feels it important that the two witnesses be always together.
