The Fairy Diary Day 624 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

Merlin and I hashed out a plan to keep us informed about any problems that could arise if the Frost Fairies were to mount attacks in our absence from the mainland. So, when Dunfallon came on deck this morning, I filled him in about the plan.

Upon the return of Gibley and Noralei – the greetings were barely out of the way before the pixie enlisted the goblin and the dragon to carry out our plan. Merlin handed over the High Fairy’s scroll to them to deliver to the Sprites. I judged them the best candidates to give us any warnings about the actions of the former Faerie Queen’s minions. (Merlin told the pixie that Emminie should be prepared to surrender the scroll to the new High Fairy whenever he is named).

We were then going to set sail until Noralei gave us the news from the canyonlands. Their mission there had been just in time. It took some convincing on Gibley’s part to gain his uncle’s compliance. All the goblins’ dragons were fitted with the ear shields with the exception of one. The young one – Clemjil had been resisting, when a frenzied demeanor overtook its being and he streaked away from the canyonlands- evidently called away by the Crack of Doom.

We met this news with a sigh of relief that the majority of the dragons were saved – and with sadness that another had been lost.

Merlin decided that we no longer needed to depart today, but we now had the luxury to wait for the return of our friends from their mission, rather than chancing their catching up to us at sea.

Day One Thousand Two Hundred Twenty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Mr. Kagi has taken over a couple of my watches at the lookout point with Tomas. Between them they discussed a couple of ideas, the results of which he brought to Elijah and me.

The well to which Sy once led us, is still viable and not too far distant. So, we thought it prudent to send the Captain and Mawuli ahead to replenish our supply of water.

No sooner had they departed when Tomas brought news of movement off on the horizon.

Mr. Kagi is certain they are the advance units of the army of the North. He finds that circumstance puzzling for the plan he was privy to, granted the advance position to the army of the East.

Day One Thousand One Hundred Ninety #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

A plan has been made and the parts assigned. Elijah and I left for the Galilee after meeting with Mawuli’s parents, the Purser and Mary. We assured them we will do everything possible to bring their child home.

We took Tomas with us. Sy, Reuben, and Magwich will follow, each leading a small group on successive days.

Hopefully to maintain the smallest profile possible.

Mei stopped us on the way out. She so wanted to accompany us. Elijah firmly declined her offer, but then had a second thought, and added that if the Captain and Jezer were to return in the next three days she could direct them to come and accompany them.

She excitedly embraced him then skipped away.

Day Seven Hundred Sixty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Mei made the sighting. She was watching the skies, but was drawn to flashes on the ridge line far to the east of us. When I looked I thought it was the water survey party we passed a few days ago.

So it was good that we were all set to leave. Tomas had covered the tracks of Jordan’s group per the plan and had selected another path away from the area.

On Elijah’s order we torched the pile of debris and stepped out again for points north on a trail that must have been used by those fleeing from that direction.

Tomas stayed with the group to help us over the tricky parts.

We should have a solid lead.

Day Six Hundred Fifty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The campfires (we could now discern there was more than one) held to their position. At my order we kept a slow pace throughout the night.

Our plan was to arrive in daylight.  It wouldn’t do to have some strangers suddenly appear out of the darkness to stumble upon a more than likely armed host.

And Elijah insisted upon an additional precaution, he went in alone, while we kept out of sight.

After a brief separation Elijah returned to collect us, and to introduce us to our new friends.

They are indeed from that huge army. A whole platoon of deserters. Minus their leaders.

And to Elijah’s delight (and our surprise) new followers of Yeshua Hamashiach.

They trailed Elijah everywhere.

Day Five Hundred Eighty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Complaints were lodged with the authorities against Elijah and myself by someone or “someones” with whom we talked yesterday. They claimed that we attempted to seduce people away from fealty to Stan and the world order. And made even wilder accusations that we were kidnappers.

This hubbub has made the Captain’s negotiations regarding the ship all the more difficult. He’ll go back tomorrow after they have  some time to calm down.

Then there were some consequences. He has confined us to the ship for the immediate future.

Elijah was compliant for the space of an hour, before deciding to go ashore by himself. I prevailed upon him to go to the Captain with his plan.

He relented and we went.

Day Five Hundred Forty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We began our plan’s implementation today. First, I paid a quick visit to the ship to ask the Captain’s permission to bring aboard the Hamashiachite contingent. Upon my assurances that none carried the plague, he whole-heartedly approved, and I returned to Elijah with his blessing.

Second, Elijah briefed these people fully in the steps they are to take to fulfill their role in the end of days. The ship shall deliver them to the next port down the coast. There they shall gather other Hamashiachites and set out for their long journey.

From the noon hour onward, we sent these dear people out by twos and threes to the docks.

By day’s end we were all safely aboard ship.

Day Five Hundred Twenty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elijah and I returned with the Raj twins to their family last night. We have a lot to do in a short time.

This morning we stayed with the family rather than going back to the shipyard. (We would only be underfoot and in the way if we tried to help with the ship’s repair).

Elijah has laid out for the family a plan and a route for their future journey. They are eager to comply and are pressing us for a word on when they should depart. All we can tell them is that they will know within themselves when the time is right.

They have balked however at Elijah’s insistence that the twins accompany us on the ship.

Day Four Hundred Sixty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Our apprehensions for Elijah and Tomas were laid to rest upon their return in the dog watch before eight bells. Tomas brought back some information that went a long way to assuage the Captain’s anger.

They had climbed to the top of the tallest building in the city. From that vantage point they could see the robotic warship. Two other vessels were in its company. They appear to be blocking our exit.

At the other end of spectrum Elijah is pleased to report that Emil has safely set up camp in the interior, which he confessed was according to his plan.

Two vessels entered the harbor today. Tomas confirms they are the ones he saw.

We left before they docked.

Day Four Hundred Forty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Loading the ship ran smoothly throughout the day. It was gratifying to have drawn up a plan that was servicing our needs so completely. That is, until a hitch cropped up. A crewman, with intimate knowledge of every nook and cranny of the vessel, brought it to my attention before it could blossom into a catastrophe.

It did slow us down a bit, so much so that by day’s end we only succeeded in filling the holds. We shall leave off securing our deck cargo until tomorrow.

There was another factor that impeded our progress. Elijah paid a call on Emil, and after a brief conversation they went off into the city.

I sensed a significant change upon their return.
