The Fairy Diary Day 323 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

Per my instructions we slipped around the dark elf camp. We renewed a spell of silence upon Willie and successfully kept him quiet.

I am now convinced that the evil genius that attracts the Wisp, is the same entity with whom Noralei and myself have been wrestling. It must be the motivating force behind everything that has been against us.

I did make one concession to the wishes of our fairest fairy and our pixie by allowing them to lay traps behind us. Otherwise we have done no direct harm to the dark elves. I am beginning to feel pity towards them. And Noralei appreciates my reining in her darker impulses.

Meribabell writes:

The Wisp renewed his demands to be released when we set out this morning. By turns imperious command or abject groveling. We made no effort to reason with him. And tried our best to ignore him.

The guards sent along by Nailbiter were curious and asked lots of questions about our prisoner. I did my best, but it was the testimony of Dunfallon that fully convinced them that their pity would be misplaced in his regard.

So, the guards turned their attention to reports of human bands traveling the roads paralleling the border and kept us well out of sight to chance encounters.

Pixies have a marvelous system of hidden trails and tunnels. I am much impressed.

Day Seven Hundred Fifty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Tomas brought back a lot of intelligence about the habitation in the clearing. We sifted through it, point by point before making our decisions.

The habitation is marked by signs of the presence of the world government. Tomas saw their flag at the entrance on the far side of the compound. So, the Captain’s advice seemed most appropriate.

There is a very good road leading out of this area upon which Tomas had observed tanker trucks. Thus Stan and his people have the same idea as the Supreme Commander’s army.

And so, we will have to steer clear of that access. More’s the pity.

We wait again while Tomas searches another exit.

All of us, including Mei live in hope.

Day Three Hundred Forty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Well, our doubts have vanished. We arrived off the harbor of our destination port, and were awaiting a pilot to take us in. From our vantage point we could see clearly that the grain ship had preceded us.

Through his glass the Captain made out a commotion engulfing that vessel. Her deck appeared to be aswarm with scavengers, and an ever growing number of soldiers was arriving to combat them.

The Captain confessed that he felt conflicted at the sight. On the one hand satisfied at the misfortune of his subordinate, and on the other filled with pity for him.

News that we will be kept here longer arrived with the pilot.

Elijah had already come to the same conclusion.

Day One Hundred Eighty Six morning #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Lyle writes:

– How I dislike writing things down. ‘Enough’ is so much better suited for this. But now with him in the hands of Moglen and Stan it falls to me to keep the chronicle going.

– I came back into the encampment after a quick trip down to the desert. I found the narrow track with little problem. Flowers should be well on the way.

Grazie informed me about ‘Enough’s seizure and insisted on going with me to the city. There at the gate, we were turned away with no comment.

I was successful in restoring calm to the camp.

How I pity Moglen should he try to coerce my friend.
