The Fairy Diary Day 12 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

After a fruitless afternoon and evening of trying to locate Rumble, I wrote a message at the bottom of the note to the High Fairy – before turning in.

There was no answer when I checked this morning. So I decided to wait for instructions.

My peace was upended when the sun was at its height – a message burned itself onto the page of the note.

He asked why I had stopped? Especially since he had given me the means to track Rumbletwist.

I realized at once that he had done something more to my pendant than shrinking it. And I learned that he also knew where I was and what I was doing.

I set out again immediately.

As I tested my pendant along the way I discovered that besides its change in color, it also grew warm to the touch as I chose among different pathways.

Day One Thousand One Hundred Eighty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We gathered last night to debrief one another. It is clear that Mei and Meesa have managed everything in the most harmonious fashion. Peace and contentment crown all their efforts.

And we shared the details of our adventures and the faithfulness of the Spirit towards us.

I marvel at how quickly things can settle into normalcy. Both for us who have been gone and for those who stayed. A welcome circumstance.

The Captain and Jezer again set out for the task that we had interrupted yesterday.

Elijah disappeared into the set apart place. I feel the same need but I have one other thing to do first.

Quasimo had asked my help with the drones. That done, I joined Elijah.

Relief. Relief and peace filled our very beings with our first steps back into the hiding place.

Though we always carry peace with us, I do say I appreciated that these surroundings very much reinforced it. I could sense the stress falling off of me.

Soon we were surrounded by the well wishes of our brothers and sisters, led by Meesa and Quasimo.

Seeing our exhaustion they quickly prepared places for each of us. A good thing, for I could barely hold my head up.

A night of dreamless sleep seemed over in an instant.

We rose, gathered and took stock. Both Mei’s group and the Captain’s had made it safely from Babylon. Only Mawuli and Mr Kagi were absent.

Tomas wanted more than anything to abandon this place and leave. But the tasks needing his attention are mounting. It is tearing him up. His sense of duty and his penchant for completing projects well, puts him at odds with himself. And may soon put him at cross purposes to the Supreme Commander.

Elijah had noticed this, so we spent the day following him about with our guard detail tagging along.

Despite their presence we were able to seize two opportunities to counsel Tomas to wait and not do anything hasty or without an agreement among the three of us under the authority of the Spirit.

Noticeably, peace blessed the rest of our time out with him on his rounds.

Quasimo has come out of his crisis of confidence, partly helped by his skill in getting us to the third and last of the relay points, but I believe mostly due to the penetrating insight supplied by Elijah through their discussion.  Elijah was able to put him at peace, both for the present, and with his past. And most glorious of all, for the future.

Our passage today was for the most part uneventful. Reuben did sight a drone, but there was enough time to get everyone into cover. Quasimo said to expect more such sightings from here on out. Especially in the vicinity of the busy road that runs to Damascus from Jerusalem.

That will be the greatest challenge.

Forever Him

Forever Him

In the days of lonely sorrow
Down dark stretches of tomorrow
Set your mind on things above
Forever Him
Forever love

Hemmed in by troubles large and small
Pressed and squeezed past any recall
Look to Heaven’s sweet release
Forever Him
Forever peace

Hung in tangled webs of madness
Look up from dead-ends of sadness
Choose instead His praise employ
Forever Him
Forever joy.

Day Nine Hundred Twenty One #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

A day of peace and rest. Much needed and welcome.

Quasimo returned. On his own volition. He was not chased away by Jezer. Rather Jezer agreed with Quasimo’s suggestion that their job would go much easier if they took a drone with them.

I had to tell him that Tomas and the Captain took the only working  one with them. But added that if he could wait till tomorrow, he could help me finish putting the new one together.

He was somewhat disappointed about the wait, but thanked me and sought out his people to pass the day with them.

Mei and Meesa reported all was well and asked if there were anything they could do to help our search.

Day Eight Hundred Ninety Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elijah and I are wanted men. So Jezer reports after his southern expedition. Our pictures are everywhere. Not as numerous or as large as those of Stan. And nowhere were there any reports of what Elijah had said. Instead we are listed as disturbers of the peace.

I launched my new drone. Not to disturb the peace, but to preserve our own. I’d like to send it out on a wider search for our friends too. But it doesn’t have the range.

What may help instead is sending Meesa out. And Elijah has just cleared her participation with those who had originally spoken against it.

We all agree that the specter of capture remains but finding our people overrules it.

Day Seven Hundred Seventy Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Yesterday was a refreshing day of rest for all of us. We each drew apart at times for communion with the Spirit.

Both Tomas and Mei desired to venture on to see what lay beyond our line of sight, but we prevailed upon them to just wait.

This morning, therefore, we were more than ready to depart. So, we let loose the young people to tumble down the mountain ahead of us.

More switchbacks eased our descent and we remained bundled up against a bracing cold. And thankfully no sign of Stan’s presence, brooding or otherwise, disturbed our peace.

The Captain and I lagged behind and filled our time with conversation on many topics. But  at their center was Jerusalem.
