Day Nine Hundred Nineteen #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Raj G’s joy at finding us was short lived. It melted away when he broke off my hug and fell to the floor sobbing uncontrollably.

There he remained. Begging for forgiveness between racking sobs. He confessed he had lost all of the people entrusted to him. They had been swept up by the government forces when they neared Jerusalem.

At this juncture Jezer excused himself to go out and seek those drone parts I needed.

It took the rest of the night for Elijah and me to calm our friend.

We succeeded shortly before Jezer’s return and immediately decamped for the hiding place.

Once there we discussed the situation with the leadership and formulated a consensus for our next move.

Day Eight Hundred Twenty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Come morning I thought it time to shake the dust from our feet and move on. Elijah concurred in my assessment, but Quasimo was unwilling to leave as of yet.

Elijah and I considered continuing on without him. We were out of danger in so far as pursuit was concerned. And we had no real need for his guidance anymore, but we both sensed that he needed ours. Or more to the point he knows not how to follow the lead of the Spirit and we felt the responsibility to be sure that he knows before we part.

We then decided simultaneously that we had to be sure ourselves about our next move.

So we felt no guilt in staying.

Day Six Hundred Seventy Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We have stayed put today in the nice dry cave Elijah found for us. We need to sort through some issues before making our next move.

Just as we had our news to share with Tomas and the Captain, so too have they returned the favor.

They had observed various scouting patrols in the area, each one checking out the routes up to the mountain pass. All have hastily beat a retreat back down to the plain.

Tomas went out on his own to see what was what. He brought back some unsettling news.

Dire warnings are posted on the roads westward. They warn that radiation is present at dangerous levels.

It must be why the army has not budged.

Lyle writes:

There has been a strange turn of events.

They held Grazie at the vineyard, but we had them surrounded and cut off from the way back to the city. At this impasse, Moglen slunk away, probably to confer with Stan as to his next move.

Then, word came from Grazie that she had to speak to me.

And this her guards allowed. She wants to go with them back the city, even if it means, to her father. In a whisper she added it’s her true path, for the time is at hand.

So I let them pass.
