Much of the meeting – at the first – was rather noisy – you would think we had not seen one another for many phases of the moon. There was just so much we had to catch one another up on.

The High Fairy was indulgent and let us rattle on. He himself had quite a long conversation with Tinadell. Before which he handed over to me a sparkling scarf he had woven for me from my cobwebs. I, in turn, gifted it to Noralei, thinking it a  fitting token of my appreciation for all she means to our team.

She wrapped it around her neck and thanked me for it. We then conversed about her negotiations with the Caretaker. She said that his excellency had been supremely helpful in securing the outcome she desired.

Once the hubbub died down the High Fairy called us to order. He addressed us about Noralei’s upcoming trip to the canyonlands. He wanted Dunfallon and myself to accompany her. Since Noralei was amenable to this plan, we were dismissed to prepare to leave as soon as possible.

However, he did retain Rumble and Tinadell for a separate huddle – about which the rest of us were left to wonder.

By first light we were on our way on Rayjil.  Per my decision we stopped at Laguayil for the night, and there conferred with Navril and Nililitil.

Meribabell writes:

It was decided in our meeting that we will be sending a team over to the other side in order to protect our world. It was further decided that this team will consist of members from all its kingdoms and races. The only question left open for now – is it to be one dwarf to represent the whole – or one from each kingdom. Gilgorgon has wisely opted to make this a decision to be shared with Fliget- in the interest of future cooperation.

So, we assembled our party to travel down to meet with Fliget. Gilgorgon is sending Herblas with us as his representative.

Gabhe and the other friends of Dunfallon gathered to see the pixie off. They mutually promised to meet again in the not too distant future. Watching Gibley at that moment I could not help but notice a hint of loneliness in his demeanor.

I kept him company as we descended down the main passageway. It was brilliantly lit and even more dazzling than I remember. And I understood better all the improvements that Herblas ordered on our way up.  He stopped us on one of the grand staircases to point out a new bas relief on the nearby wall. It depicted Merlin, Dunfallon, Rumble, Noralei and myself- all to commemorate the great victory at the former city of the dark elves.

I admit I was a little embarrassed.

Day One Thousand One Hundred Sixty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We learned from others in Reuben’s little community that Magwich and his comrades indeed had left to find Mawuli and to rescue him if needed. (They had acted before Elijah’s revelation).

Sy and Reuben rushed out in pursuit but returned before sundown when it was clear the trio was well out of the area.

I called a meeting this morning at Elijah’s request. He poured oil upon the anxious spirits of the people and together with the other leaders promised that their concerns would be addressed, (the chief concern being the secrecy of this location if any of Magwich’s group were captured).

Tomas sought permission to go after them, but Elijah ordered him to accompany Sy back to the redoubt.

Day One Thousand One Hundred Eight #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

In our meeting of yesterday the Supreme Commander revealed to us news of the conflict raging far to the north, as the forces out of that fastness have been engaged by those of the world government. He was content to sit out and let them weaken one another, all the better to step in later and destroy them both.

We welcomed this news but for another reason, and advised Quasimo’s cousin and Mei that now would be the best time for them to depart on their journey.

They agreed and Tomas concurred and together we escorted them to point outside of Babylon to the west.

As we were parting, Lung appeared and committed to accompany the women on their journey.

Day One Thousand Ninety Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

One look into his eyes and I knew. We all knew. Mr Kagi was a follower of Hamashiach. He credits many from the ship’s crew for his awakening. Such has been the favor shown him, that he has also been raised to be the Quartermaster of the army of the East. And in that capacity he is hard at work even now.

Direct from his meeting with us, he is to report to the Supreme Commander. Elijah drew him aside to speak to him before that event.

Before parting Mr Kagi also related some rather disturbing details. He has it on the highest authority that Stan was snatched from the gates of death through the agency of someone named Moglen.

The meeting had been brief, a mere formality with the Supreme Commander. He acknowledged his debt to us and was glad to return the favor, and left us with Tomas. The press of necessity pulled him away.

Tomas dismissed the guard and moved us into more comfortable quarters.

We had a lot to share, making it another late night. The full scope of which did not completely come into focus until today.

Tomas too has performed important service for the Supreme Commander. The result of his obedience to the call of the Spirit.

He has hope for the man’s future. But as always the choice remains with him.

Then the Captain took his turn, no doubt discussing their old ship.

Day One Thousand Fifty One #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We were in sight of Sy’s redoubt (for such it has now become) when we encountered Elam in his tanker truck. He stopped, picked us up and turned around.

It was as we guessed. He now operates out of a staging yard from the army’s rear lines to its front, and rarely goes to Damascus. He put off his return until tomorrow in order to hear all the news.

Sy was hospitable though reserved, for he knows the reason behind our visit. Jordan, by contrast, was ready to return with us that very moment.

Elijah called for a meeting after the evening meal.

We met, and cleared the air about many things. In particular I was keen to hear Jordan.

Day Nine Hundred Fifty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elijah made the first move. Through Reuben’s good judgment he identified the guard with the most influence with the other guards. One who has resisted the despotic bent of the prison’s commandant. And no longer kowtows to the creeds and dictates of the world government headed up by Stan.

By the end of their meeting Elijah gave Magwich what he most desired, the removal of the mark.

At this change of status he immediately offered himself to his brother guards for incarceration.

This they refused to do, instead they joined him.

The word spread throughout the prison and the commandant finding no one left who was aligned with him, barricaded himself in his office (and his despondency) and hung himself.

Day Nine Hundred Twenty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Our meeting concluded, Raj P took over the consolation of his brother and folded him into his group.

With the new day we set about implementing our decisions.

We assigned to Jezer the task of running down what has happened to Raj G’s people. And Quasimo stepped up to help him in that quest. (I believe Jezer has opened up to be more amenable to taking someone with him).

Sensing the hour and the day at hand, Elijah and I took Tomas and the Captain aside to enlist their aid in finding the other parties that long ago (and far away) set out for their calling in Jerusalem. Their present whereabouts is a complete mystery to all but the Spirit.

Day Eight Hundred Seventy One #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

It was an odd meeting. None of the invitees arrived or left at the same time. It might best be characterized as a serial meeting, for we were constantly reiterating the same information over and over.

Most agreed to contact others and pass on the information. However, there was one individual who resisted Elijah’s suggestions. Instead, he wanted Elijah to rid the earth of their oppressors.  To venture forth and bring the wicked city down to its knees.

Elijah told him that now was not the time nor perhaps would it ever be. His concern was only to get them out and on the road for Jerusalem. As to the coming wrath that was for the Holy One to decide.
