Day Eight Hundred Fifty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

For the time being, we’ve mutually agreed to hold up here to await developments. Elijah still holds back and is waiting for me to confirm the next waypoint on our way to Jerusalem.
A series of new images puzzled me. None of them indicated a destination. Or at the least, no correlation came to mind. Only one face after another, all complete strangers to me.
That is, until this afternoon. A man emerged from out of the west, leading a string of camels. And though this man was the same as the first of my images, there was one difference. He bore the mark on his forehead.
He hailed us upon his approach and begged leave to enter our circle.

Day Seven Hundred Thirty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Tomas led the way, as usual, around the lake and into the foothills. Our guests carried on behind us. Each fully armed and with heavy packs. They’ve been instructed to follow us until they reach the goal of their mission. Besides themselves, Elijah is the only one with that knowledge.

Their names are Lung and Mei. I really was bowled over to learn that Mei is not a man, but a woman. Both had been guards over Elijah, and Mei was always barking commands and gave no hint of her gender.

Elijah knew, of course, and was greatly amused at my discovery.

Our road is a good one. It has been surfaced for vehicles, and we are making good progress.

Day One Hundred Seventy #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

A man by the name of Flowers came to see me today. He may be what we have been hoping for. He is one of the men connected with the market in the east end, and has asked us to aid him by bringing over his parents from the west end.

The parents, we are assured, are free of the mark. Flowers who has the mark, now wishes he hadn’t. He does not care what happens to himself, so long as his parents reach freedom from  what he sees as a growing oppression.

I brought his case to Lyle with an additional caution. Flowers does not know how much longer those without the mark will be free to move about.
