Day Six Hundred Seventy Eight #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The lead elements of the army are no longer in sight, but we are still ahead of the main body. Tomas reports that the bulk of it is building up where the way narrows and they have to pare down their marching order.

Still, over time all of it may pass us by.

Elijah is no longer concerned with this possibility. He remains confident that he can protect them for higher purposes.

Come the end of day, I noticed that the Captain seemed a bit downcast. He didn’t deny it when I talked to him about my observation. He went on to explain that he struggles with how to know the right thing to do.

We talked into the night.

Day Six Hundred Seventy Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The army on the plain is prepping to move. Their first units were already on the road north per Tomas who observed them during his early morning watch. They must have come to the same conclusion as myself.

I don’t know how I feel about that.

We set out immediately. Elijah intends to shadow their movement from a higher elevation. And possibly stay ahead of the main body.

I believe our trails are harder than those down below. Certainly they have more up and down sections and even switchbacks. I’m beginning to wonder if maintaining a lead is even possible.

The Captain fears that circumstances have dictated our actions more than the Spirit.

I believe, however, He works through them.
