Everyone gathered in the Laguayilian council chamber at the request of Merlin. He invited Dunfallon to join him at the front and together they related to us all that has been discovered through the Dromadilians.

While Dunfallon spoke, the wizard conjured up images on the wall behind them. The Dromadil scouts have been successful in penetrating the dark elves border at many points, but so far none have been able to enter or see into the black crystalline tower.

From all reports they believe that there are very few dark elves.

However, the trees everywhere are black – laden with myriads of dozing black birds.

(The wizard’s image of that phenomenon changed to that of the tower). With that Merlin took up the explanation. A closer examination revealed that the tower was covered entirely with bats. And the plain between the birded woods and the bat covered tower was filled up with tents upon tents with trolls milling among them.

The image of the trolls brought a cry from outside of the chamber from where Geog was watching.

It was some time before Dunfallon and myself could comfort our friend.

A lengthy message from the High Fairy was waiting on the scroll for me this morning. Fitting I am sure after my equally long missive to him of yesterday. There is still no word on Merlin. His castle now is completely unencumbered from the hornets’ nest and his excellency is sifting through clues in his library.

His main concern at present is for us and our new allies. He is of the opinion that Laguayil may be the next target for an attack. He surmises that whenever and wherever the spies of the enemy are eradicated (i.e. the ugly black plants) they are alerted and consequently launch those black birds that are either the harbinger or the beings that transform into the hornet hordes.

I met with the Laguayil council and laid before them this possible threat.

We passed the rest of the day discussing what we can do to stave off disaster.

The Laguayil council was abuzz with activity when we were summoned thence this morning. Without the usual ceremonies or niceties Nililitil demanded that we hand over all the red seeds we had taken away from the field. Evidently they were not aware that we already had experience with the eyes behind their husks.

Noralei gladly surrendered the seeds to their official magi and asked the boon of comparing notes with him to better understand the nature of the tiny red grains.

Nililitil then softened his stance and invited the rest of us to join with them to combat the return of a great evil.

We all agreed in so much as it comports with our own mission.

Nililitil grudgingly agreed to that stipulation, but then surprised us with the request that we contact Merlin for his help.
