Day Eight Hundred Seventy Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

After news came in that many of the orphans and widows had been killed in a fire where they were being held, we had to haul Jezer off of the man responsible. If we hadn’t, we were sure he would have strangled him to death.

When Jezer had time to settle down, he turned contrite upon sober reflection over his actions. But he felt even worse when word came back that the object of his former ire had gone out and hung himself.

It was all we could do to rescue Jezer from the whipsaw of his emotions. Elijah cancelled the rest of the day’s meetings to tend to his needs.

I believe that the Spirit will redeem this situation.

Day Six Hundred Fifty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The camp is in disarray this morning. We had some unwanted visitors over the night. A swarm of drones descended upon our position  and attacked.

We believe we brought them all down. Either from the rifle fire from our new friends, or from the fierce ire of Elijah when provoked.

Tomas and I combed through the aftermath to be sure nothing was still operable that might give away our position.

There were no casualties among us. The only damage has been to some tents and their contents – supplies and equipment.

Still, it is obvious that we shall have to part company sooner than anyone had planned, or wanted.

Elijah took the chief soldier aside for instruction while we made preparations.

From an early hour, Elijah was wrestling with the decision of what to do next. None of us could help him, for each of us had a different and conflicting answer. He listened readily enough, but shook his head at each suggestion.

But probably most surprising of all has been his decision to reverse himself about going to Mr. Kagi’s uncle on the other side of the city. Both the Captain and Tomas reacted as though Elijah had lost his senses. The Captain’s ire in particular has been awakened.

I stepped forward as peacemaker and pointed out that we do not yet need to take any action and that it is in our best interest not to at this time.
