The Invitation

The Invitation

Drawn by
The attraction
Still my senses
Were telling me
The cost would be
More than
I could bear
But all I could do
Was stand and stare

There it lay
Unopened
Filling me with dread
There were so
Many places
I’d rather go instead
The fear was
Overwhelming
Petrified by
The unknown
Arrayed all
Around me
By properties
Ingrown

I knew it for what it was
Or thought I did
Now there’s the rub
The bogeys I see
Within my mind
Whisper nothings
All too real

A ‘No decision’ is a decision
No balance between yes and no
The answer is final either way
And rendered under the seal.

Day One Thousand Thirty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Our return to monitor the tanker truck staging yard was interrupted by one of Elijah’s pupils sent to retrieve us.

When we asked the reason, we were told that two men from Elijah’s second group had come in from the north looking for Elijah. They have news from Jerusalem.

Reluctant to leave and chance missing Elam, we asked if he could bring one of the men to us.

He no sooner had left, when I spotted Elam roll in. As his tanker was filled, we moved outside and hailed him as he drove out.

We urged upon him our invitation for Sy’s people to come to the hiding place.

Before he dropped us off he had news to share too.

Day One Thousand Thirty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Reuben wanted to accompany us, but we knew, (and he knew) that his place was here, for now.

I did brief Quasimo that we would endeavor to contact Elam while in Damascus, if he were still making the rounds in his tanker truck, and ask him to invite Sy to bring his people into the hiding place. In any event we charged Quasimo with the task of traveling to the Galilee with the same invitation, especially if we have not returned at the end of seven days.

We bid our farewells, and Elijah and I committed each one remaining behind into the care and peace of Yeshua Hamashiach. And they said the same blessing over us and for our mission.

Day Six Hundred Fourteen #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The passage of columns of soldiers continued unabated throughout the night. And shows no sign of let up today.

At least they ignore us, passing onwards in the disinterested manner of soldiers under orders, orders that have nothing to say about us.

Our neighbor came to lunch and passed the afternoon with us. At his invitation we dined at his house, spending a pleasant evening with him. He told us about our future host, one of the wealthiest men among the exiles. He was successful in extracting all of it before being forced out.

Elijah then surprised him with the question- “Is he not the uncle of Mr. Kagi?”

Our host stammered in the affirmative and even I was impressed.

Day Two Hundred Ninety Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We backtracked today, heading away from the seaport, all the way to Sy’s parents’ house. They had left me their keys and the invitation to replenish our supplies as we have need, and as long as they last.

Heavy rains swept the streets clear well before our arrival. We are reasonably certain that no one followed or saw us go in.

It felt good to be in and out of the drench and with the opportunity to rest and dry off.

We spent time together with the Spirit, petitioning for Elam’s well-being, and for his rescue.

And we also heard that we need to be at the seaport within eight days, or half way through this city’s final days.

Day One Hundred Seventy Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Lyle sent me on an errand at the rising of the sun. I made a tour of the encampment to invite his leaders to a meeting, while he crossed into the east end to look for Flowers.

I was able to delegate others to  spread the invitation, so by the time of our gathering there was a boost to the turnout. Lyle was a few minutes late and without Flowers. But he did bring with him a dozen people from the east end who want to move out here to the fields. All welcomed the newcomers and pledged their support.

Lyle settled everyone in and began to speak. He announced that the time is at hand and shared our vision.

Day One Hundred Thirty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Goodness prevails. Lyle met Moglen, Kip’s friend and co-leader and the outcome was very favorable. We now have a standing invitation at the other end of second avenue. And Lyle hopes it will lead to more introductions.

He stopped by Kip’s on the way back to thank him. We had asked him before about our drone sighting but all he could say then was that it was not theirs. Now he tells us that it was Stan’s drone. It always goes with him. He has struck a deal to bring more back with him. And similar technology to make their jobs as rulers easier.

I heard none of this until later. Blissfully, I passed the day in my courtyard.
