Day One Thousand One Hundred Eighty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We are back. After a long and tiring day. Quasimo expertly guided us around the sections that had been demolished not very long ago.

We ran into the Captain and Jezer who were on their way out on an errand. They reversed direction and accompanied us back to the hiding place.

We learned from them that Tomas and Sy have not yet returned. Otherwise everyone is accounted for (now that we are here).

Both Elijah and myself were dismayed that nothing is known about Tomas and Sy. Neither their whereabouts nor their well-being. They should have been back long ago.

Then I remembered the urgent impression I received last week to pray for them. It gave me great comfort.

Mawuli wanted to know if the army’s retreat meant that we were to go back also.

Everyone else shared their impression that our mission had not concluded. Decidedly we will press on.

Today we saw that the retreating army was that of the world government. And Elijah spoke the word, “Babylon has fallen.”

That’s when Elam shared his revelation – the motorcade we had spotted yesterday must have been carrying Stan.

We also decided to stay put for the day. With so much going on before us it seemed the much safer course.

Mawuli and Sy did go out, however. They felt their way further to the east to look for gaps, then planned a swing back to the restored well.

Day Three Hundred Thirty One #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I was in error.

The other ship was not moving at all. It was the motion of our ship, its momentum, that created the impression in my mind that the other vessel was approaching. The Captain saw it right off.

And he also slowed our approach to better evaluate what we were getting ourselves into.

The bloody morass still lay off in the distance on our right. And it now appeared that we had a similar phenomenon far to our left. Was the way ahead the only channel through to our destination?

The Captain decided to press on. Perhaps our answer lies with the becalmed ship.

The Captain has ordered all hands on the alert, both day and night crews.

Day Two Hundred Seventy Eight #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Last night was quiet and peaceful from one end to the other. Elijah must have made a lasting impression.

Sy’s father put in a request to him. He would like us to get a message to his son. Elijah refused as we are not headed that way. But he added that the only reason for returning – part way at least – would be to point them in the right direction. That ended the discussion.

We left for the administration building. It was as though we walked in a bubble, for everyone on the streets avoided us. And it was the same at the administration building. They declined to let us in until we bear the mark.

We’ll try another tack tomorrow.

Day One Hundred Sixty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Lyle and the others were all occupied in the fields today. The latter crops are ready for harvest, those that remain standing after the driving rains.

I was excused for the day. I went back into the east end at the prompting of an impulse or impression, say what you will.

The once crowded streets and thoroughfares are now less so. I passed by the marketplaces where there was much activity. At least at present they do not require the mark for any transaction. I wonder if Moglen is aware of this. Or is it a stratagem on their part?

I stopped by my walled courtyard. The vision returned.

This may be the time. I went in search of Lyle.
