Day One Thousand One Hundred Twenty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I don’t know who was more overjoyed, or relieved – Reuben or us. Perhaps it was dependent upon whoever was sharing. For we mutually encouraged one another by the good news we were each privy to.

All was well at the hiding place according to his account. And for him to hear from us that Tomas was well gave him immense satisfaction.

The fact that he was here was the result of his search for Tomas. The trail that he had pieced together to follow him, lead him to us.

He strongly considered going on to Babylon, but we dissuaded him. It was very providential to have him with us as we left the plain behind and climbed into the hills.

My mind is at ease. Jezer and Tomas arrived this morning. They had a breakdown just south of the first village and it took all of the Purser’s people to drag it into a place with the right equipment for Tomas to attempt a fix.

Tomas is happy with the results and believes his repair should last. And Jezer reported that the Purser’s people should be on the way.

I relayed the good news to Elijah. He nodded with a smile and an arch of his brow. Then took me by the arm and walked me to his meeting with his “pupils.”

He wanted me there as he commissioned them and sent them out once again.

It was a special moment.

Day Seven Hundred Seventy Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Our young people returned with good news.  Indeed, there was a passage under this mountain that disgorges onto the other side.

With this comforting knowledge we settled down to pass the night in the safety of the cave.

Come morning we pressed onward led by Tomas and Mei.

There were a couple of tricky sections where we had to descend a good height by handholds chipped from the rock by persons who had explored this way before. Who knows how long ago?

Once through to the other side, Mei and Tomas waited for us to catch up. Tomas collected our firebrands and suggested that we rest up and spend the night again in the cave.

His thoughtfulness was very welcome.

I was the one who stumbled upon the right path this time. Tomas had just returned from an unsuccessful attempt to find a way down when I arrived with the good news.

After an hourlong descent we  were on the level of the pass. Signs were everywhere of the army’s passage: abandoned and broken down equipment, strewn trash and spent fire pits. The area must have been used a multitude of times by different units of the army as it passed along.

After the briefest of rests, we took to the trail again. It was very easy going, our only impediment, having to walk around garbage dumps.

We hadn’t gotten far when the Captain noticed that we were being watched.

Choose Your Eternity

choose-your-eternity

A point of view
Is just a view from a point
From where you sit or think
You taste the words
And tailor your response
To see you through thin or thick

But are you aware
We are all eternal
And into eternity
We all will go?

(Not into nothing
Will we dissolve
No matter how much
We may resolve)

All eternities are not equal
One is forthright peaceful
One is downright lethal

One eternity is a gain forever
In a light and love-filled place
One eternity is a loss forever
In a dark and burning space

What we do
When we are confronted
With news too good to be true
Listen and don’t be talking
When the good news comes walking

By the cross
You gain gain
And lose loss
(It’s what you get to lose)
You see it not
Till after you choose

We choose
Before you know
You were chosen
To belong.

We choose
And then learn
We were chosen
All along.
