The Fairy Diary Day 538 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

Dunfallon returned from a quick trip to visit his fellow pixies. We had been so busy these last few days that we had not realized that he had slipped away. Helping me with my cottage had prompted his action. But after only a short time, he tells me, his curiosity was satisfied (that is, he got bored) and he was happy to return.

When I informed him that he had missed the return of Noralei and Rayjil, he immediately wanted to go see them. I told him that he should wait and accompany Rumble and me to the Fairy Council before whom she and Tinadell would be appearing.

When we arrived the meeting was already underway. I was shocked that it had begun before the scheduled time. In fact the gallery was packed and we had to stand at the back.

Noralei and Tinadell were standing together before the council. Which struck me as strange until I saw that the High Fairy was seated on the council dais with the other members.

The complaints against each of them being read, his excellency rose and presented the decrees of their sovereign regarding each. There was not much to add after that. The other council members were clearly cowed by these pronouncements from the Faerie Queen. And they in turn ordered that Noralei and Tinadell would be allowed to go about their business.

The three of us (led by Dunfallon) met them outside the council chambers. There Noralei informed us that his excellency desires to meet with all of us at his residence this evening to discuss some important developments.

Meribabell writes:

Things have become more complicated today. Noralei returned with Rayjil in the early afternoon and word has spread already that the dragon is here to stay – not just passing through as on former occasions. The Fairy Council has summoned Noralei to meet with them about their concerns.

I jotted a note on the scroll to the High Fairy and petitioned him to come as soon as possible. The weight of his authority also would be welcome in Tinadell’s case.

Besides we need to talk to him about the promise Noralei made to the Caretaker. She plans to fly with Rayjil to the canyonlands and treat with the goblin clans about procuring another dragon for the repository. I am curious to hear what thoughts his excellency has on that topic.

Meribabell writes:

Some problems arose today on our rounds about the village with Tinadell. Although most, like Noralei’s sister, had never heard his name we did run into a few who had. And their reaction to the news of his being here to stay, rankled them.

Unfortunately those thus affected happen to be on the Fairy Council. I did plan to take Tinadell to one of their meetings, but see that it would be best to wait for a time when the High Fairy will be there also.

One fortunate encounter was with the weavers when I dropped off the cobwebs. They were most happy to meet Tinadell, and even more so when they learned he weaves also. So, he may have a place to work before he has his own place to stay.

Overall Tinadell seems happy to be here and is content. He thanks me every time we meet.

The Fairy Diary Day 1

Here is what I could now read on the page:

At long last I am allowed to contribute to the collected wisdom of our people.

Why is age tied to that privilege? It seems so unfair. Are all my experiences before now unworthy?

I’ve been sampling what has been shared before, and I think I’m so much smarter.

(Though I can’t wait to try that transformation trick on that greedy Roseberry).

Good thing he can’t read this.

I wonder if anyone has mentioned me. Maybe I shouldn’t mention anyone by name.

No, there are names mentioned everywhere.

Now to prepare for my first appearance on the Fairy Council. The first time in fifteen hundred years that a Meribabell has taken a seat among the rulers of the kingdom of Faerie.
