The Narrator’s Tale #TFDbyRWOz2 D minus 11

With much timidity I offer up my latest discovery. It has given me no rest these past few months. My selfish desire looms over this decision. For I would rather not share and keep it solely to myself.

But the other voice won’t suffer that to be. And calls out incessantly to be let out and allowed to breathe and to walk about.

Yet I think I will wait.

Until tomorrow.

I promise.

Day One Thousand Two Hundred Twenty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The conjunction of the two armies was forged in plain view this morning. It gives us an inkling of the reasoning behind their movements. They had to take separate routes to reunite where the juncture gave them the most room.

One can easily see that they outnumber the defending forces of the world government below our position.

We watch in wonder at what the reaction of those elite forces will be – retreat or attack.

I hope they won’t decide to spread up into the high ground. It would increase the likelihood of our discovery.

Elijah is convinced that this development will force the army of the world government back where he wants them.

We all camped at the lookout today.

Day Nine Hundred Twenty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Tomas and the Captain returned today. Their foray had yielded slim results. But such as those were, they did raise the hope of an eventual breakthrough.

They excitedly talked about the possibilities. According to them the most promising ground for discovery lay towards the north and west of Jericho, long ago known as the Galilee.

They wanted to return there as soon as possible. But before that they asked to confer with Elijah and myself.

I was available, but Elijah was not. In order to have a face to face with him, they’d have to wait for him to return from intercession.

I decided to release them to the work on my own recognizance, when Elijah emerged and halted everything.

Day Seven Hundred Thirty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Tomas led the way, as usual, around the lake and into the foothills. Our guests carried on behind us. Each fully armed and with heavy packs. They’ve been instructed to follow us until they reach the goal of their mission. Besides themselves, Elijah is the only one with that knowledge.

Their names are Lung and Mei. I really was bowled over to learn that Mei is not a man, but a woman. Both had been guards over Elijah, and Mei was always barking commands and gave no hint of her gender.

Elijah knew, of course, and was greatly amused at my discovery.

Our road is a good one. It has been surfaced for vehicles, and we are making good progress.

Day Three Hundred Sixty Nine #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

A double watch was set over night. Even the government guard joined in. But he went missing some time after he was relieved.

Volunteers queued up to go after him upon the discovery, notably those from this port, but the Captain wouldn’t allow it. At least not until he can decide what to do next – be on his way, or stay and figure out what to do with the containers slated for this port.

Elijah has decided opinions as to what needs to be done, but he won’t broach the subject until the proper time.

I agree as to the main detail – we need to go ashore, but I believe it should be now not later.

I acquiesced to Elijah.
