The Fairy Diary Day 456 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

The petition is finalized. The High Fairy has done it up in his own hand on a fresh parchment. He rolled it up, placed his seal upon it and has it encased in a container especially made for it. This he has entrusted to me for safe keeping.

We leave tomorrow for the capital.

But not all of us.

It would be too much to take Cluyjil along with us. Our motives would be suspect if we were to take a dragon with us.

The dilemma thus created only impacts Dunfallon. He is torn. But he is more convinced that he needs to add his plea in person for our missing friends. And especially in light of the fact that we are asking to use the single most dangerous artifact in our world for personal reasons.

Rumble has agreed to stay behind here in Nonin-gal-dith, and see to Cluyjil’s care.

Meribabell writes:

Our dilemma has deepened – as our leaders cannot agree where to send us next. The High Fairy has heard anew from the queen, she now demands that we travel to the Faerie Kingdom. However, Merlin insists that we must set our sights on the evil that emanates from that spot on the horizon.

And I find myself stuck in the middle. Rumble, Dunfallon and Noralei all look to me for the decision. They all feel that it is mine, and only mine to make.

I went off to be alone with my thoughts. This time I avoided the rampart and went down to the courtyard garden. That spot on the horizon may have been out of my sight but not out of my thoughts.

At the back of the garden I came across a curious looking flower – black in leaf and petal. My pendant had an adverse reaction to it. And I knew in the instant that we must journey off to the far horizon.

Meribabell writes:

I awoke this morning from a deeper than usual sleep. I was thankful that it was not disturbed by dreams or waking visions. But I immediately knew something was wrong.

Only one pendant was suspended around my neck. The one Merlin gave me was missing.

The memory of Tog’s curiosity leapt to my mind. So I went in search of the pixie chief.

And could not locate him. Nor indeed had anyone seen him since last night.

In the middle of my dilemma, Geog returned from below. He brought news that all are welcome to come down to a clan meeting that the trolls are convening.  But I felt I could not go until I found my pendant. Rumble and Dunfallon agreed and we told the brothers to go on without us.

They were reluctant at first until I suggested they could be a big help if they were to look for Tog and my pendant down in the valley. A homesick Grimace was quick to comply.

So with some of Dunfallon’s new friends we scoured the secret places in and around the pixie burrow.

Day One Thousand Sixteen #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Situations like this made me wish that Tomas was still with us, out front scouting. But that worry passed when I heard that gentle rebuke, and I realized I was transferring my trust off of where it should be.

I found Quasimo in the same dilemma. He was still hesitant about ordering us forward, thinking it perhaps too soon.

I believed his recent dreams were  robbing him of his confidence. I sent him to confer with Elijah, and  took up the task of moving us on.

Elijah sent his new pupils to assist me, and together we had everyone up and over the next hill in short order.

From the summit Quasimo saw that the next stopping point was free.

Day Nine Hundred Thirty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

It wasn’t a critter or a pesky villager outside our camp this morning. Both Elijah and I startled at the sound of Jezer’s voice wishing us a glorious morning. We rose and greeted our friend, who asked after us and we in turn after him and the others. In particular we were keen to know any news about his search.

He did have news on that score. He and Quasimo had at last located where Raj G’s people were being held. They still form a group and fill an entire prison on the other side of Jerusalem.

This put us in a dilemma. Should we drop our current pursuit in order to go to the rescue of the imprisoned group?

Day Five Hundred Fifty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

All day the ship has been a veritable hive of activity. We took on a full complement of cargo, for there is a great backlog of containers that ships bearing the mark have refused.

It was also a long day for goodbyes.

Elijah and I each conducted three of our guests to the sign of the fish, and brought back a local to lead more groups. The Raj twin G accompanied the last group to leave after a tearful parting from his brother.

The Captain shared with Elijah the dilemma of the other ship’s captain. He has a pressing need for a first mate and is resisting those with the mark the local authorities are promoting.

Our Captain suggested me.

Day Five Hundred Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We are being hemmed in. By other people, by circumstances. Our expectations and plans lie in tatters.

The global security forces have locked up the ingress and egress points around the entire metropolis. Which puts us in a dilemma. We are closer than ever to catching up to the Hamashiachite. But if we stay another day to make that happen, we may never be able to leave.

Elijah remains upbeat, exhorting me with the truth that it will all work out for the good.

He is especially moved by the fact that the attitudes of some of the people in the slum are changing towards us. A few are even responding by asking us questions.

For now we will stay.

Day Three Hundred Seventy Six late morning #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Elijah writes:

I again have the onerous chore of chronicling my activities. I miss Enoch.

My arrival at the ship added greatly to the confusion then embroiling the crew. They had just completed offloading the cargo designated by the Captain, when that gentleman discovered a list of containers at this port slated for transport. In the midst of this new task, the runaway guard turned up with dire news. Somehow he came across the prophecy about this place and urged our immediate departure. I confirmed the dilemma.

Now Captain and Purser have important decisions.
