Day Eight Hundred Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The air is no longer arid. It has given way to a moistness, the excess thrown off by the surrounding plants through the night. We breathed deeply with the lifting of the dew this morning.

We passed by fishermen plying their trade from the banks. Some rose to greet us expecting we were there as customers, but they turned and slunk away when they got a closer look at Elijah.

We were left wondering when we will come up against forces that won’t hesitate to challenge us.

Elijah is anticipating being taken into custody so we can get where we need to be.

He has his sights set on the highest structure in the skyline of the megapolis.

Perhaps soon.

Day Seven Hundred Eighty Two #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

The city guards remembered the Captain from the day before and immediately took him into custody. And they took us too because we were with him.

We were held over night in a cramped cell, over small for one prisoner, much less three.

The Captain was upset with himself for our predicament and it took both of us to calm his spirit.

They dragged us out mid morning, hungry and needing sleep, and stood us before a five man tribunal.

Their interrogation was perfunctory. Only one spoke, the rest were silent in agreement.

Elijah and I were cut loose, but they kept the Captain for his was a second offense.

Back at our host village we sought the Spirit’s help.

Day Three Hundred Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We are content for now to rest where we are. The seaport bustles with ships coming and going at all hours.  Our vessel is still dockside taking on cargo. We will join her four days from now, and should be offshore on the city’s last day.

Stan intends to keep us here.

He has changed the guard, and even added more to their number.

Elijah thinks Stan has noted our reluctance to harm anyone, and therefore more and more is assigning younger guards to us.

I think they are still puzzled about how Elam and I escaped their custody.  And I wonder if that woman forfeited her life in consequence.

They have no idea of the power of the Spirit.
