Day Nine Hundred Ninety Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

An unforeseen consequence to our staying here has surfaced. In our council last night we had decided to schedule our departure for the day after tomorrow. When this plan was announced this morning there was audible grumbling in certain quarters.

I took it upon myself to investigate and tracked down a few of the discontents. Each one shared the same reasoning, a reluctance to give up their present comfort for an unknown future.

I remonstrated with them to little effect. So I turned the whole matter over to the Purser and Elijah.

By day’s end my friends had them convinced of the folly of their thirst for comfort. No doubt Elijah’s vision of future troubles within these confines clinched it

Day Eight Hundred Sixty Six #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We got in for closer views of all three entrances, but we kept on the move to avoid scrutiny of ourselves. And as a consequence, we became quite familiar with the paths connecting the two motor roadways with the footpath entry.

The whole area is filled up with rubble that must have been carted out of the city after its destruction.

I sighed to think about all the new buildings beyond, and the people within them, facing the destruction of destruction in the day’s ahead.

We learned that very few on foot went through the motor road entries. And the central path was exclusively for those on foot. Even many not bearing the mark, by all appearances doing forced labor.

Day Five Hundred Seventy Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I was reluctant to rejoin life outside the special cabin.  Not because of a foreseen consequence to my person, but because of what the day held for our people and for one in particular.

And it was not out of a sense of duty that I went to the Raj twin P, but out of true concern and love to prepare him for coming events.

First I sought out the Captain on the bridge to tell him about the imminent arrival of a manned warship. Elijah was also on the bridge conversing with P. So I called them over.

And as predicted a warship entered the harbor before nightfall, carrying personnel to man the ships and with demands on us.
