My friends dropped by first thing this morning to check on me. (I was fine, though I was touched by their concern). Tinadell had with him two scarves and two pairs of mittens for me. The latter he had fashioned from the leftovers of the cobwebs, insufficient to make a third scarf. I thanked him.

Rumble wanted to talk. Really, he wanted to finish our discussion of last night. Then he had been trying to convince me to set out to the repository sooner rather than later – and not wait for the arrival of Merlin. He explained that his feelings of urgency then had only increased.

At that point he turned to Tinadell and asked him to share what he had told him last night after they had dropped me off. With reluctance Tinadell spoke of the uneasiness that has upset him ever since Noralei and Gibley departed. He added that something is wrong – very wrong.

Rumble chipped in that the wizard would be sure to find us. And Tinadell said that was certain because he would tell the wizard himself when he returned. (Rumble in the heat of the moment had forgotten that Tinadell was sentenced to remain in Nonin-gal-dith by royal edict).

I told my friend we needed to prepare to be off. For throughout our conversation my pendants were warming alarmingly.

Much of the meeting – at the first – was rather noisy – you would think we had not seen one another for many phases of the moon. There was just so much we had to catch one another up on.

The High Fairy was indulgent and let us rattle on. He himself had quite a long conversation with Tinadell. Before which he handed over to me a sparkling scarf he had woven for me from my cobwebs. I, in turn, gifted it to Noralei, thinking it a  fitting token of my appreciation for all she means to our team.

She wrapped it around her neck and thanked me for it. We then conversed about her negotiations with the Caretaker. She said that his excellency had been supremely helpful in securing the outcome she desired.

Once the hubbub died down the High Fairy called us to order. He addressed us about Noralei’s upcoming trip to the canyonlands. He wanted Dunfallon and myself to accompany her. Since Noralei was amenable to this plan, we were dismissed to prepare to leave as soon as possible.

However, he did retain Rumble and Tinadell for a separate huddle – about which the rest of us were left to wonder.

By first light we were on our way on Rayjil.  Per my decision we stopped at Laguayil for the night, and there conferred with Navril and Nililitil.

Some problems arose today on our rounds about the village with Tinadell. Although most, like Noralei’s sister, had never heard his name we did run into a few who had. And their reaction to the news of his being here to stay, rankled them.

Unfortunately those thus affected happen to be on the Fairy Council. I did plan to take Tinadell to one of their meetings, but see that it would be best to wait for a time when the High Fairy will be there also.

One fortunate encounter was with the weavers when I dropped off the cobwebs. They were most happy to meet Tinadell, and even more so when they learned he weaves also. So, he may have a place to work before he has his own place to stay.

Overall Tinadell seems happy to be here and is content. He thanks me every time we meet.

There is a certain strangeness to returning home after a long absence, especially when it would seem one’s travels have come to an end. And stranger still under the current circumstances.

Rumble has struck up quite a friendship with Tinadell and has agreed to take him in until he can set up on his own.

I had a lot to do to tidy up my home. Thankfully Dunfallon pitched in to help me (he wrangled some particularly fat worms). Cobwebs were simply everywhere. We were careful when collecting them, and will drop them off at the weavers later. I will have to check to see what I need for them to make for me.

I was just sweeping out the dirt when Rumble dropped by with Tinadell. Rumble and I wanted to introduce him around Nonin-gal-dith, so we started at Noralei’s smithy where we caught her sister hard at work. While there we told her that Noralei should be joining us soon and to prepare a pen for the dragon.

She was not familiar with Tinadell’s name – had never heard of his banishment.

We can only hope that is the case with the other fairies here in the village.
