The Fairy Diary Day 339 #TFDbyRWOz2

Meribabell writes:

Noralei remained with Navril and his elves, and will assault the gate of the stronghold from the Low-way. I went down the passage to the chamber of the junction nearest the stronghold to join Rumble and Dunfallon.

Only the Dromadil pixies, all veterans of the Battle at the Bottom of the Shaft, were there when I arrived. They had set up a barracks of sorts in the chamber and in parts of the various offshoots. They told me Dunfallon and Rumble were off scouting for the hidden passage into the stronghold.

I was growing edgy waiting for news when Noralei came up from the Low-way to check on us. That is when Rumble emerged from a passage with news that they had made their way into the stronghold. Dunfallon had ascertained that it comes out within the city walls above the gate.

I sent Noralei back to Navril and his troops to await our actions.

I marshaled the Dromadil pixies and together we followed Rumble down the secret dwarf access to the stronghold.

Dunfallon met us within the city wall with the report that Nililitil had begun the assault on the other side.

It was the opportune time for us to strike. For the gate tower was deserted.

Working in tandem Dunfallon and Rumble loosened the mechanism operating the gate. And Noralei and Navril and his troops rushed in to join us.

What happened next I need more time and considered thought before I write it all down.

Day Two Hundred Fifty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Getting past the city wall was no problem at all. We bypassed it all together.

From our vantage point yesterday Elijah picked out our landing point on this side of the wall. He didn’t tell me the reason behind his choice until we got here.

It all harkens back to the time we were separated when seeking a way out of the city. Elijah had gone back from the wall in search of rope. He had informed me that he had fallen into the control of our nemesis.  It was she who supplied us with rope, proving herself a friend instead.

What he didn’t tell me was that she knew who we both were. She knew I am named Enoch.

Day One Hundred Seventy Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Lyle and I spent our day going from one end of the encampment to the other looking for Flowers. We did find a look-alike in our little market area, but this doppelgänger, unlike Flowers, does not bear the mark.

I wanted to take him to Moglen as proof that their drones are in error.  Lyle, however disapproved. He’d rather have Moglen come here. I can see his point and concede  Moglen more than likely will be back sooner than anyone wants.

We finished our canvass around the end of the noon hour, about the same time that the midday drone flyby was departing.

I watched its last lazy circuit before it winged its way back over the city wall.
