Day Eight Hundred Sixty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We did not make any progress towards Damascus today. We encamped on the outskirts of a larger town last night – the capital for this district, as we soon discovered. For we decided to begin the day’s journey by strolling through rather than around it.

The telltale posters of Stan hung everywhere with extra added touches of adornment.

We were no sooner in its central square than we were surrounded by a convergence of celebratory citizens that clogged all the exits.

We were a captive audience.

When the officials spoke we learned that they were collected to celebrate the anniversary of the world government coming to their rescue in the drought.

When it broke up, the day was too far gone.

Day Five Hundred Ninety Eight #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We arose early and went in search of our friends. Only a few farmers in carts heading to market shared the roads with us.

We said little on the way in.

When we came to a temple we had passed by yesterday Elijah insisted upon entering. It bore all the signs of rededication to the cult of Stan. An acolyte motioned us forward but we skirted around the morning crowd and made our exit.

With the citizens across the city tied up in similar meetings we quickly got through to the civic center. There the Captain and Tomas were penned in a cage. Their surrounding captors fainted away at Elijah’s approach.

We released them and together returned to the country.

Day One Hundred Fifty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Moglen is forbidding any contact between the citizens of his second district and the markets of the east end.

We expect that the other western districts will soon follow example.

Going forward, Lyle is expecting renewed problems with leaders wanting to take on the mark. I don’t think things will get critical until we can no longer supply our own needs.

Lyle does not want to share the vision with everyone just yet. And I agree. Timing is everything and between us we should know the proper time. I have cautioned Grazie along the same lines. She will not tell the vision to anyone.

Tomorrow the people of the east end will move from the encampment back into their residences.
