Day One Thousand One Hundred Fifty One #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

One more night and the decision will need to be made. Last night we moved forward in our uncertainty. At least, the amount of patrolling drones has dropped to nothing.

Consequently, Elijah lifted his prohibition on talking, so his three disciples filled their time up with arguments for Elijah’s going to Jerusalem tomorrow night.

The whole matter seems to amuse Elijah, who remains silent and just smiles. He has made it plain that they are free to go to Jerusalem on their own.

Who knows, perhaps that will be what ultimately happens.

Reuben and Tomas are still keen to be back at the hiding place, too, but afterwards they do intend to go up to Jerusalem together.

Elijah didn’t comment.

Day Nine Hundred Thirty Three #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

As for Elijah, there was no question over the decision. We were out here and very close to turning up another missing group. And that was the bedrock of his thinking.

Jezer expressed surprise over this decision given the concrete evidence for one versus the scant evidence of the wheel tracks for the other. Even when he added that rumors were afloat that the group in prison was facing capital charges, did nothing to budge Elijah off of his decision.

I was torn seeing the value behind both arguments. So I counseled to wait and pray for direction. My two friends concurred.

Thus we waited, prayed, and watched. And this morning we saw our answer – a tanker truck lumbering along.

Day Five Hundred Twenty Four #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

It feels good to be underway again – out in calm seas under sunny skies, especially as the Captain has decided to take the risk and put in at the next port up the coast.

Elijah has invested all his waking hours with the Raj family, which he gathered into our cabin to go over the slightly different route they will be taking.

At one point he sent for me. I was with Tomas in the Purser’s cabin, listening to his arguments for taking on the job again. It seems some of the older members of the Raj family were battling sea sickness.

I rejoined Elijah in our cabin and did what I could to help them cope with the malady.

Day Ninety Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Discovered a citizen of the village today. In the third dwelling we checked. An elderly woman. She confirmed to us that she is the sole remaining tenant here.  She knows little beyond

A month ago people were moving in both directions. Everyone was trying to convince her to come with them. She felt that they all had convincing arguments. For both choices. And that’s what confused her – she couldn’t make up her mind and by default decided to stay put.

Lyle has been talking with her all day to persuade her to come with us.

To no avail. She won’t budge. She believes she’s too old for any new adventures.

On the plus side we’ve traded for foodstuffs with her.
