Day Nine Hundred Eighty Five #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Another night of intercession. We emerged with direction and purpose. Elijah asked the Purser to escort us to their makeshift hospital.

Tomas asked if he could help. Elijah assented and chose him to be by his side. I took Mawuli with me.

At first the former army surgeon in charge resisted us, for our protection, he claimed. But then it was clear that he considered our actions as an intrusion into his sphere of authority.

It took the Purser’s utmost persuasion to calm him enough to back off.

To his amazement Elijah and Tomas went into those down with fevers and sickness and raised them from their beds. Mawuli watched as I did the same for those with physical injuries.

Day Eight Hundred Thirty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

I still heard barking in the distance on the way and kept my attention directed to it. It appeared to gain on us, then passed off to our right. And was silent.

When I saw mounting clouds to the west, blocking out the stars, I guessed the reason behind the actions of the trailing animal. I called Elijah’s attention to the coming storm. He concurred that we needed to seek shelter.

But there was none. All we could do was watch and pray. And to our amazement the storm front veered to the south and passed by.

So another night march and still no well. Elijah remains unperturbed. We continue to keep rested each day, despite our rounds of watching.

Day Three Hundred Twenty #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Foul weather had blown in. And from every direction it seemed. The island as of then had not come into our view. The Captain assured us that we were close, and added that it would be a good time for Elijah to do his “trick” again.

I started to protest his worldly understanding, but Elijah interrupted, told me to fetch his staff, go out to the bow, and there command the storm to cease.

I caught on immediately that this way would educate the Captain better than my words. And it was also the fulfillment for one of my dreams.

I obeyed.

And to the amazement of those watching the storm blew itself out.

One of those watching was Stan.
