Things did not go as planned – with one happy exception.

Rumble, Noralei and I scouted around the mouth of the shaft and found at least three points of entry. We were at the point of exploring further, when Merlin returned with Dunfallon and Grimace. Merlin has been successful for his part, locking down the enemy camp as to any access from the outside. Our allies will be able to advance now more easily.

The pixie and the troll however did not find Geog with the trolls in the camp – a fact at once both good and bad.

We were about to turn our attention back to the shaft, when a loud shrieking filled the air behind us. There on the rim stood the giant walking plant that has been stalking us.

Meribabell writes:

My recent message to the High Fairy stirred things up mightily. It contained a strange request – from Merlin. The wizard asked me to use the pendant to summon him.

I did. And in the span of two wing beats he was there beside us.

He began by commending us for a job well done. Then went on to tell us that our allies were close to breaking through in mass.

To that end he said it was crucial that we prevent the enemy from activating his nearby troops.

We looked around our little circle in wonder. ‘How’ was the word that sprang from our lips.

Merlin laughed and said that it would be all his concern.

But Dunfallon spoke up and protested that he and Grimace had not yet found Geog.

This appeared to take Merlin by surprise – but only briefly.

Then, he said to the duo, “you two shall come with me.”

Meribabell writes:

We saw Dunfallon off on his eagle this morning. Rumble had copied out a map for him for the last known whereabouts of the Dromadil pixies. For as such they are known.

We watched from the highest point of Laguayil until they were out of sight. Then, Noralei and Rumble turned to me and asked what we should be doing next.

I said that though I felt strongly our next destination was the coast to seek passage to the former land of the dark elves, we shall not continue on until the return of our friend. And perhaps more importantly I will not feel free to depart from our new allies until they are settled in their role for dealing with the crisis.

“Patience, for now ” I added, “will be the paramount virtue.”

Day Five Hundred One #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

A momentous change over night. We left the central district of the metropolis moments before a lockdown. The local government is out, and the global authority is exercising full control.

Here in the slums there is no official authority, only that which is exerted by social groupings. So Elijah is confident we have a small window of opportunity to complete our task before they clamp down on this area too.

Already we have contacted several groups. They are alarmed by what is transpiring and thus may become natural allies.

Still no followers of Hamashiach among the people we’ve talked to so far, but one of them told us that he has crossed paths with one individual a number of times.
