Day One Thousand Two Hundred Nine #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

We have had no sightings of any troops in pursuit of us. Nor, thankfully, any sign that any adversaries are aware of our presence.

There have been some patrols on this road, but Tomas pulled us from view well in advance of any danger.

Tomas tells us that tomorrow we shall alter course to the south and Babylon. All Elijah advises at this time is that we stay on the high ground as in our other journeys and avoid descending into the plain until absolutely necessary.

I hiked beside the Captain and we conversed. It has been an age since we have spent any time sharing the details of our lives. He too feels an urgency to help Mr. Kagi.

Everything has turned out for the best.  Though right in the midst of events, I confess, I had my doubts. I thought I was witnessing a repeat of when we lost Magwich and his group.

Tomas did not lead Mei and her group up here. I call it Mei’s group because she lead the assault. Supported by Lung and the others – Tomas, the Captain, Jezer and several former soldiers, she overwhelmed all in her path. Watching the resistance of their adversaries melt away before their onslaught was amazing.

They soon had Mawuli by their side. Mei gave him his sling and he stoned his tormentors.

Elijah stood out in plain view and called down fire to consume the high place.

Sy and two of his people have joined us thanks to the skills of our intrepid Tomas. But they brought with them an even greater tale of deliverance.

One day behind us, they were also caught in the region of the earthquake. They had been spotted and pursued by an army patrol. Cornered in a dead end canyon they had given up all hope – when the earthquake struck. Before their eyes the ground split and swallowed their adversaries. Closing over them with a crash.

After a brief rest Sy and Tomas went down to our observation lookout.

They brought back the news that a truck had arrived with a huge crate strapped to its bed. And an automobile carrying Mawuli.

Our path as directed by Reuben guided us away from the plain for the morning hours. When we crossed back over the ridge the main body of the army of the North filled the plain. We took the main concentration centered on the side towards us to be the headquarters.

I asked Elijah if we were going to curse them per the wishes of the Supreme Commander.

He replied, “No. They are already cursed.”

With that Reuben hastened our pace to put some distance between us and them.

As they disappeared in our rear view, I could not help but wonder what our adversaries looked like up close. Were they the bloodthirsty barbarians of every report we had ever heard?

Day Nine Hundred Thirty Seven #DiaryoftheEndoftheWorld

Having covered the happenings in our lives (and the hand of the Spirit in those events) throughout the remainder of the day yesterday, we began the discussion of our mutual futures after breakfast.

Sy holds the decided opinion that all the Hamashiachites should come here to this stronghold in the wilderness. And he listed all the benefits, chief of which is their access through Elam to water from under the very noses of our adversaries.

Elijah listened, offering no interruption.

When Sy closed his case with a nod to Elijah for having touted this location to him in the first place, Elijah agreed to allow him to remain, but only if he learned how to escape to the hiding place.
