The pixie dumbfounded us with the announcement that Noralei and Gibley had gone missing while riding Rayjil. Dunfallon could not vouch that they were still both with Rayjil but he is holding to that hope.
Merlin asked him for more details. So, Dunfallon began at the beginning. The three dragon handlers had been taking their charges on longer and longer flights from the vicinity of the castle.
The two dragons, no longer mere hatchlings, eagerly participated in these daily excursions. Throughout these new experiences they proved to be compliant and obedient, and always had returned to the castle by day’s end. That is until two days ago.
Noralei had proposed the longest flight yet – a jaunt to and from Gilgorgon’s mountain. Dunfallon had chosen to remain at the castle because Cluyjil had developed a flutter in his right wing and hence thought it best to rest it a day.
When the trio failed to return that night, Dunfallon was concerned but not as much as Cluyjil. The young dragon paced all night in the courtyard. And was inconsolable until the pixie unshackled and mounted him in the morning. And flew straight for Gilgorgon’s mountain.
There were no signs of their friends along the way or on the mountain. Instead Gabhe met them with word that Merlin and some fairies were expected soon.
Thus we were brought up to date and the whole matter handed over to Merlin.
