We have a promise
From the God who loves us so
That if we cast our bread
Upon the waters
Ere long we will receive it
Back again.
But just what if…
What if it is our very hearts
We are asked to send instead?
To endure the gaping gulf
Ere we are face to face
Or touch to touch again.
And as Paul has exhorted us
To be like him and imitate the Son
But in this…
In this
We catch a different reflection
Than the Son
And now we imitate the Father
As when He sent His Son
And gave His very heart
And we know
You have a promise
From the God who loves you so
If you, at his prompting,
Will only go.
